Close To My Heart "Silver & Gold" Blog Hop
Hi there! Thank you for hopping by to my blog. Each month we have a small group of Close To My Heart consultants that love to share their creations through their blogs. This month we are using our Silver & Gold collection. Today you should have arrived from Haley Dyer's blog and her amazing project she has created for you.
My project this month is a 12" x 12" layout. Our current Holiday Expressions Idea Book has two wonderful Christmas and winter paper collections along with several coordinating stamps and thin cuts dies designed for both card making and scrapbook layouts. For my page this month I wanted lot's of snow on my page. Thankfully we don't get a lot of snow here in Texas, but it sure is a beautiful gift from God during the winter. I started with my snowbanks using our Glacier card stock and the set of Aspen Court templates from Kiwi Lane. From there I added a thick layer of our Liquid Glass along the snow slope edge and covered it with Diamond Dust that I purchased years ago at Hobby Lobby. I then took our White Daisy pigment reinker bottle and added several drops of the ink onto one of our 3"x 3" acrylix blocks along with 2-3 drops of water, mixing it well and then using one of our paintbrushes, I splattered the ink on both my snowbanks and my 12"x 12" base layer of Crystal Blue card stock. I LOVE our White Daisy pigment ink! I have had it along with my many other ink refills on my Workspace Wonder small tray and have never used it because of it being a pigment based ink and not a dye based ink. Just to remind you, a pigment ink is not a quick drying ink. Instead of being absorbed quickly into the paper, the ink sits on the paper surface and it takes an hour or so to dry or you can hit it with our Craft Heater, for a much faster drying time. I discovered how much I love this pigment ink when I made Halloween treats from my Grand using one of our Halloween images stamped on our Kraft Paper. The ink stayed so bright and white and I was sold using the ink. I rarely used white inks on projects because of the die ink fading into the card stock, but that is not a concern when using a pigment ink. I cut two trees using our CTMH Artistry Cricut Cartridge image #M412307, a sweet deer and holly leaves using our Silver & Gold Scrapbooking Stamp & Thin Cuts combo, the Beary Christmas Scrapbooking Stamp & Thin Cuts combo for the stamped saying on the layout and the gifts, I used both the I (Heart) Christmas and Ribbon Border thin cuts, one small red enamel gem for Rudolph's nose, some twine in my stash for his bow around his neck, and then lot's of Liquid Glass on the holly leaves, stars on the trees, the red ornaments on the trees, and the large heart. I used a 6 1/4" x 4 1/4" piece of our Silver & Gold paper collection for my photo mat.
